Question 2.2 - Digital Footprint

Question 2.2: Yes, I think digital footprints could become a problem. When people post things online, there is always a trail leading someone back to that post, hence the word footprint. It is important to think before you post post or share something online, as people may share or save the post. This also applies to messages as someone can take screenshots and save evidence of your chats. These posts can come back to harm your reputation. If people post inappropriate pictures of themselves online, this attracts negative attention and can affect future job opportunities as your profiles are screened. People also tend to post things without thinking of the consequences, some posts can contain inappropriate, racist and pornographic content which can affect other people when they see your posts. Sometimes your posts can be used against you in the court of law. Always member to think before you post.

Question 1.2: Definition: According to dictionary.com social capital is defined as the interpersonal relationships, institutions, and other social assets of a society or group that can be used to gain advantage” or it is defined as by the British dictionary “the network of social connections that exist between people, and their shared values and norms of behavior, which enable and encourage mutually advantageous social cooperation.” Organizations such as Facebook, Airbnb and Uber have harnessed social capital to grow their market shares. Question 1.1 - 9 Elements

Question 1.1: There are nine elements that are associated with the word “Digital Citizenship”. These elements were defined by Mike Ribble in 2011 and they focus on the use, misuse and abuse of technology in the current digital age. The elements describe that technological users can use these resources and internet responsibly, safely and ethically. Since technology is under continuous innovation, users need to ensure the appropriate manner in which they use it.
